Dear Pastors:
Greetings, in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It is time for our annual campaign to support Simmons College of Kentucky. The pandemic separated and isolated us for three years, forcing our choral ministries to all but shut down. But, we are pleased to announce that at the 16th Annual Dr. Sarah C. Newby Simmons College of Kentucky Benefit Service, we are “Bringing Back The Church Choirs!”
On Sunday, November 19th, at 4:00 PM, we are gathering at First African Baptist Church, 465 Price Road, Lexington, Kentucky, to celebrate our church choirs and to support Simmons College of Kentucky.
This year’s emphasis will be on supporting the Second Chance Pell Grant program at Simmons. We have partnered with the Kentucky Department of Corrections to provide educational opportunities for the incarcerated. As we approach our third semester of the program, our participation totals 151 students who have, thus far, completed over 1300 credit hours of college coursework. Donations to this program will provide school supplies and materials for housed prisoners.
We are asking each church to contribute $200, and each household to contribute $20 toward this worthy cause. Make checks payable to Simmons College of Kentucky. Mail to Antioch MBC, 428 Ferguson Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40508.
Online giving is available at www.simmonscollegeky.edu/invest/ - Click “Annual Fund,”
CashApp: $SimmNation. Type “November 2023 Benefit” in the Memo/Comment sections.
We are encouraging all to be a blessing to Simmons College of Kentucky.
Dr. Sarah C. Newby founded the Benefit Service in 2007, and we want to do all we can to continue her legacy of support for Simmons College of Kentucky. Thank you for your consideration, and we are looking forward to seeing you on November 19th!
